Summary
The course is a joint organization of CLAD (Portuguese Association for Classification and Data Analysis) and INE (Instituto Nacional de Estatística) and proposes an introduction to writing texts using the LaTeX environment. Following the decision of the JOCLAD2019 Book of Abstracts to be edited in LaTeX, the practical component will deal with the creation of a summary for submission to the Conferences, which will take place in Viseu, according to the JOCLAD2019 abstracts template. Participants in this course are prepared to create their own summary for the Journeys, as well as other documents in LaTeX.
Recipients
All researchers who need to use LaTeX in the formatting of their documents, in particular those who wish to submit abstracts for JOCLAD2019.
Duration and Scheduling
The course will last 6 hours and 30 minutes. conditioning. The course will work with a minimum and maximum number of 10 and 25 participants, respectively. Applications not accepted will be sent to future editions of the course. It is advisable that participants bring a laptop with the LaTeX “environment” installed. In advance, subscribers will receive an email with instructions on how to proceed with the installation.
Investment and Application Deadline
The course is free for CLAD members with the 2018 fee paid; the investment for CLAD non-members is €60. CLAD will issue a certificate of participation. The deadline for registration is November 9, 2018.

10:00 – 13:00:
1st Session: The LaTeX environment. Creating a document in LaTeX. Main formatting of a LaTeX text. Mathematical mode in LaTeX. Inclusion of tables and figures in LaTeX. Management of bibliographic references in LaTeX.
14:30 – 16:30:
2nd Session: Conclusion of the 1st Session. Validation of the LaTeX installation and realization of practical examples.
17:00 – 18:30:
3rd Session: Creation of a summary for JOCLAD using the new template.
