We are very glad to announce that the 2026 Rousseeuw Prize for Statistics has been awarded to The R Project.

The distinction goes to the five members of the R Core Team who, according to the jury, have made the longest and most sustained contributions: Professor Brian Ripley (University of Oxford), Professor Martin Maechler (ETH Zürich), Professor Kurt Hornik (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien), Professor Peter Dalgaard (Copenhagen Business School), and Professor Luke Tierney (University of Iowa). Half of the prize money goes to these five individuals, while the other half is allocated to the remaining members of the R Core Team.

The award ceremony will take place on November 4 at KU Leuven. We will inform you later about this event.
